SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: On Wisconsin

Another season in the books, but a new team on top to end the season for the poll.

Another season is in the books. For the first time in our poll’s history, the WCHA ends on top. Now, it is time for an offseason to ponder what craziness will unfold when we return.

1. Wisconsin (35-4-0), 120 (12) — Last poll: 1

•  Last Week: W 5-0 v Clarkson (3/22), W 2-0 v Minnesota (3/24)

•  Coming Week: No Games

The Badgers didn’t allow a goal all tournament and are once again National Champions.

2. Minnesota (32-6-1), 106 — Last poll: 2

•  Last week: W 2-0 v Cornell (3/22), L 0-2v Wisconsin (3/24)

•  Coming Week: No Games

The Gophers looked listless this weekend but had the raw talent to overcome Cornell.  When they had another rematch against Wisconsin, they were unable to muster a goal and fell in the title game.

3. Clarkson (30-8-2), 91 — Last poll: 3

•  Last week: L 0-5 v Wisconsin (3/22)

•  Next week: No Games

The Golden Knights did get a trophy this weekend when Loren Gabel won the Patty Kaz award.  In the games though, their potent offense was held silent.

4. Cornell (24-6-6), 83 — Last poll: 5

•  Last week:  L 0-2 v Minnesota (3/22)

•  This week: No Games

The Big Red went quietly into the night as they seemed to play with little urgency against Minnesota.

5. Northeastern (27-6-5), 77 — Last poll: 4

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

Northeastern had one of the best season’s in program history but there is some what-ifs with the Muller injury.

6. Boston College (26-12-1), 61 — Last poll: 6

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

The Eagles were disappointed in their lack of trophies but have lots of young talent to look forward to.

7. Princeton (20-8-5), 48 — Last poll: 7

•  Last week: No Games

•  This week: No Games

The Tigers struggled down the stretch but they are going to be a dangerous team going forward.

8. Ohio State (20-13-0), 26 — Last poll: T-8

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week:  No Games

The Buckeyes apparently have gained favor while sitting idle. This was a bit of a regression year but aOSU looks to return to the tourney next year.

T-9. Boston University (21-8-8), 18 — Last poll: T-8

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

The Terriers were a bit of a surprise this year after losing so much talent but they look to return to the national scene once again.

T-9. Colgate (23-10-5), 18 — Last poll: 10

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

The Raiders were definitely disappointed to fall short of last season but they have plenty of potential for the future.
