The league’s players will also receive a 50 percent split of the revenue of the sponsorship in addition to their existing salaries. Furthermore, VEDA will continue to be the title sponsor of the NWHL Player of the Week Award.
“VEDA is an extremely innovative partner for our players,” NWHLPA director Anya Battaglino shared in the league’s release. “Their first priority is absolutely the well-being of the players, and their products are provided to us to help with recovery and performance at the highest level. I am excited for another year with the VEDA team and look forward to pushing the sport of women’s hockey forward together.”
Relevant VEDA products that NWHL athletes can use to increase their performance and improve with recovery include CBD tinctures, sprays, vapes, and roll-ons. Additional products including a topical cream and pre-workout capsules are set to launch early Fall 2019. At the moment, it’s unclear which of these products will be available to NWHL athletes and in what quantity.
This is the second sponsorship deal that the NWHL has announced in the last three days.
