WWC Open Thread: USA vs Germany

The USWNT is back in action tonight. The Americans will meet the big surprise of this year’s Women’s World Championship - Team Germany - in a semifinal game at 7:35pm EST.

The American attack this tournament has been led by the United States top line of Kendall Coyne, Brianna Decker and Hilary Knight. If Germany has any hope of pulling off an upset tonight, they will need to shut down what many are calling the best line in women’s hockey.

Decker has 7 points in 3 games for USA and 5 of those points have come at even strength. She’s been brilliant thus far.

Two skaters to watch on Germany are veteran Julia Zorn and youngster Laura Kluge. That duo leads the team in points. Both Zorn and Kluge have put 10 shots on net and have 4 points in 4 games for Germany. But the big story for Germany this year has been its goaltending.

Jennifer Harss has been nothing short of sensational. She has posted a .971 Sv% and a 0.75 GAA for Germany in the Women’s World Championship this year.

You can watch the action tonight on NHL.com when it streams live and free to residents of the United States at 7:35pm.

Thus far the live stream has been difficult to find for audiences (it typically goes up just before puck drop), so keep an eye out in the comments section for a link!
