Victoire sign Poulin, Stacey, Desbiens to two-year extensions
Montréal's foundational signings are signed through 2027-28.
On Thursday, the Montréal Victoire announced they have agreed to two-year extensions with foundational signings Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, and Anne-Renée Desbiens. The new contracts kick in next year, with the trio now signed through the 2027-28 season.
Team captain Poulin lead the league in goals last season with 19 tucks in 30 games played, taking home the Billie Jean King MVP award as well as being named the league's Forward of the Year. Playing on the top line alongside Poulin, Stacey finished the year with 11 goals and 22 points, top ten in the league in both categories. In the crease, Desbiens finished the year with an incredible 15-2-2 record, posting a league-leading .932 SV%, taking home the Goaltender of the Year award.
“These three players have been the heart and soul of our team since day one, and we wanted to make it absolutely clear that they will remain integral members of the Victoire for a long time to come,” said General Manager Danièle Sauvageau. “Their work ethic, determination, and attitude embody everything we want to see in our players, and their leadership in the locker room brings us immeasurable value."
Last month it was reported that Poulin had re-structured her current deal to take a pay cut, with other players reportedly following the captains example, allowing Montréal to attract more top talent in free agency this past summer. There's no word on the three players' salaries with their new contracts and whether the team-friendly mentality has continued. Though it wouldn't be surprising from the 34-year-old captain, who has made it abundantly clear she plans to finish her career in Montréal.
“I am so proud to remain with the Victoire for the long run," said Poulin. "It's an honour and a privilege to wear this jersey and represent our city alongside my teammates. I am thrilled for this upcoming season to get started and look forward to reconnecting with our great fans.”

After 2025 draft pick Nicole Gosling signed a three-year deal earlier this month, the Victoire now have four players signed through the 2027-28 season. Five other players – Hayley Scamurra, Shiann Darkangelo, Lina Ljungblom, Kati Tabin, and Jessica DeGirolamo – are signed through next season. Of course, the potential of another expansion draft this summer could see some of those players on their way out.
PWHL training camps kick off in November, with the Victoire scheduled to face the Boston Fleet for two preseason games on Nov. 15 and 17. Their regular season campaign kicks off in Boston on Sunday, Nov. 23 from Tsongas Center.
