USA Hockey invites 75 players to Women’s National Festival

Teams will train ahead of friendlies against Canada Aug. 16-19

Today, USA Hockey invited 75 players to participate in the 2018 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival starting Monday at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York. The full roster, comprised of 42 forwards, 26 defenders, and seven goalies can be found here.

The annual festival will be used to select two, 22-player teams to represent the United States in friendlies against Canada to be held Aug. 16-19 in Calgary, Alberta.

Five members of the gold medal-winning 2018 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team –Cayla Barnes, Kali Flanagan, Megan Keller, Kelly Pannek, and Maddie Rooney – are included on the roster. Defender Savannah Harmon, rookie signee with the Buffalo Beauts, and goaltender Katie Burt are the only pro-bound players on the roster. Harmon won back-to-back NCAA national titles (2017, 2018) with the Clarkson University Golden Knights, and Burt is the NCAA record holder for career wins.

Maura Crowell will serve as the head coach for the U18 team, alongside assistant coaches Josh Sciba and 2018 Olympic gold medalist Brianna Decker. Joel Johnson will serve as head coach for the U22 team, alongside Bob Corkum and Katie Lachapelle.

Both select teams will be announced at the conclusion of the festival Monday, August 13. USA Hockey announced the series games against Hockey Canada will be streamed live on HockeyTV.com.
