USA Hockey announces 2022 U18 Worlds roster
Team USA is gunning for sixth gold medal in ten years at the U18 Women’s World Championship
USA Hockey recently announced the 23-player roster that will take the ice for the 2022 U18 Women’s World Championship in January.
The roster is headlined by returning 2020 gold medalists Danielle Burgen and Kirsten Simms, who tallied one and two assists, respectively, throughout five games at the previous tournament and who will begin their collegiate careers next season in 2022-23.

Forwards: Elyssa Biederman, Danielle Burgen, Laila Edwards, Claire Enright, Kelly Gorbatenko, Cassandra Hall, Tessa Janecke, Madison Kaiser, Ava Lindsay, Finley McCarthy, Margaret Scannell, Kirsten Simms, Josie St. Martin
Defenders: Grace Dwyer, Jenessa Gazdik, Molly Jordan, Sydney Morrow, Emma Peschel, Laney Potter, Ava Svejkovsky
Goaltenders: Annelies Bergmann, Sedona Blair, Ava McNaughton
The squad will be coached by Holy Cross women’s head coach Katie Lachapelle and assisted by Brown’s head coach Mel Ruzzi and Colgate assistant coach Chelsea Walkland. Alli Altman, who most recently served as the goaltending coach at St. Catherine University (D-III) will be the team’s goaltending coach.
The tournament, which is set to begin Jan. 8 in Linköping and Mjolby, Sweden, will run until Jan. 15 and feature teams from the United States, Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Germany. Many alumnae from the competition have gone on to represent their countries at the senior level, including Americans Lacey Eden, Caroline Harvey, and Abbey Murphy.
The IIHF’s website for 2022’s U18 World Championship is not yet up and running, but expect more details to be released by the federation in the coming weeks — including schedules, streaming information, and more.
