USA looking for yet another U18 WJC title

Led by Cayla Barnes, this is another stacked squad that has the opportunity to skate away with gold

After a strong performance at the U18s last year, with the USA skating away with the gold on Canada’s turf, the red, white and blue will once again be looking to impress this time around as well.

Though last year’s captain Jincy Dunne is now too old to remain with the team, there are more than enough capable players to take her place. Most notably on the US is Cayla Barnes, the new team captain, who is one of the best young defensemen in the American pipeline. She most recently joined Team USA for the December series against Canada, playing a game with the senior team and doing quite well despite the team’s loss.

Barnes, Grace Zumwinkle, and Taylor Heise will be three names in particular to keep an eye out for as the US looks to repeat. All three were invited to practice with the senior team prior to the Four Nations Cup this year, and the team will undoubtedly be looking to them to serve as a leadership core and lead by example on the ice as well.

Below is the US’s schedule and a link to the Youtube Channel where you can watch all  their U18 games:
