SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: Rust and Rescheduling

We got a few more games in this weekend and a couple more will be coming up but this season just sees more and more games not get played.

As we approach the holiday break, more teams are opening their seasons but even more games are being cancelled. Among teams in our poll, only five games were played.

1. Wisconsin (1-1-0), 93 (5) — Last poll: 2

  • Last week: No Games
  • Coming Week: v No Games/

Another week of cancelled games worked out well for the Badgers as other teams had some troubles this week. They have nothing on the calendar for this week but as we have seen things change rapidly.

2. Northeastern (1-1-0), 86 (4) — Last poll: 1

  • Last week: W 4-1 @ Boston College (12/11), L 1-2 v Boston College (12/13)
  • Coming Week: No Games/

The Huskies came out slow in both games. In the first, they evened the game late in the second and stream rolled. However in the second game, two weird goals for BC and a seeming lack of urgency doomed Northeastern as they fell by a single goal. No games until January for now but there have been rumors that they will add some games.

3. Minnesota (5-1-0), 80 (1) — Last poll: 4

  • Last week: W 5-1 @ Minnesota State (12/10, W 2-1 v Minnesota State (12/11)
  • Coming Week: No Games/

After their original scheduled series against Ohio State was cancelled a home-and-home series with Mankato was added. The first game was an easy win while the home game was a lot tighter.

4. Ohio State (2-2-0), 78 — Last poll: 3

  • Last Week: No Games
  • Coming Week: No Games/

Another Bye Week for Ohio State. They hope to return to action soon.

5. Colgate (4-1-1), 55 — Last poll: 5

  • Last week: No Games
  • Coming Week: No Games/

The Raiders were idle but will have some conference games coming up.

  • Last week: L 1-4 v Northeastern (12/11), W 2-1 @ Northeastern (12/13)
  • Coming Week: No Games/

The Eagles finally figured out Aerin Frankel, scoring their first goal against Northeastern since the infamous ‘Notebook Game’, on Friday but were unable to hang on for a full 60 minutes. Then on Sunday a pair of fluky goals was enough as Abigail Levy shutdown the Huskies. The season split is enough to make the Eagles ‘Belles of the Ball’ again with such limited national action.

7. Minnesota-Duluth (4-2-0), 38 — Last poll: 6

  • Last week: No Games
  • Coming Week: No Games/

Another idle weekend fro the Bulldogs.

8. Clarkson (1-2-1), 31 — Last poll: 7

  • Last week: No Games
  • Coming Week: No Games/

Like Colgate, Clarkson will look to return to play when the ECAC is fully back.

9. Providence (5-0-1), 30 — Last poll: 9

  • Last week: No Games
  • Coming Week: @ Maine (12/19, 12/20)/

The Friars are getting now love but will take a trip to Maine to wrap up the year and get a few more Hockey East points.

10. Boston University (1-2-0), 6— Last poll: 10

  • Last week: L 1-4 @ Connecticut (12/11)
  • Coming Week: No Games/

The Terriers are reeling. This week brought them an embarrassing loss at UConn and sees them barely holding onto their spot in the top ten.
