PWHL Roster Recap: Mid-August 2025
A quiet few weeks have seen just a few players signing with their respective PWHL teams.

Slowly but surely, PWHL teams continue to fill in their rosters as they look ahead to training camps and the 2025-26 season. We've also started to see more teams locking up players long-term, with a handful signed through the 2027-28 season now. It reflects a shift in thinking - planning not just for short-term success, but for long-term growth and prosperity.
Roster notes are updated through Sat., Aug. 16, 2025. Further movement in the league is not reflected in this piece. Be sure to check out our updated PWHL Signings Tracker for more information.

Boston Fleet
The Fleet have been the busiest so far this month. In a key move for the team's future - and a big splash - Boston signed Aerin Frankel, Megan Keller and Alina Müller each to two-year extensions.
With how the landscape of the Fleet has changed this offseason - namely, the departure of Hilary Knight and Hannah Bilka - it's a great move for Danielle Marmer to secure this trio.
Though they haven't yet announced it, a signing for top draft pick Haley Winn seems forthcoming. The Fleet announced a fan pop-up at a local brewery on Aug. 20, with Winn and Abbey Levy as the featured guests. The team has also announced a media availability with Winn being held that same morning.
Less than a week away... 👀

The Fleet already recently announced the signing of draft pick Ella Huber to a two-year contract. Huber was the team's first draft pick to sign this offseason and is coming off four seasons at the University of Minnesota. She had 140 points in 156 games.
Last, but certainly not least, forward Jillian Dempsey announced her retirement after a storied career across the CWHL, NWHL/PHF and PWHL.

New York Sirens
The Sirens added Valérie Bois, former head coach at Bishop's University, as an assistant coach. Bois helped launch the women's hockey program there and served two seasons as an associate coach, as well as two seasons as head coach. She was previously an assistant coach for Les Canadiennes de Montréal in the CWHL.
The Sirens also announced that assistant coaches Mike Sommer and Lauren Williams will not be returning for the upcoming season.
On paper, the Sirens' roster is looking pretty thin. The team hasn't announced any signings, trades or moves since July 10, though draft pick Casey O'Brien did recently suit up in New York gear with CCM:

Ottawa Charge
The Ottawa Charge have already built up a well-stocked roster for the upcoming season, so it's no surprise there hasn't been much action from the team so far this month. If nothing else, it's clear that teams are really starting to think more into the future and less in the short-term.
The Charge signed key forward Emily Clark to an extension through the 2027-28 season. Clark was second on the team in scoring this past season with 19 points, including nine goals, in 30 games. One of Ottawa's inaugural three signings, Clark has appeared in 62 games with the team (regular season & playoffs) and has 39 points.

Toronto Sceptres
The Sceptres are still relatively thin at forward, but they did boost their roster a bit so far this month with the signing of draft pick Emma Gentry.
Gentry, who had 20 points in 36 games last season with St. Cloud State, signed a two-year deal with Toronto. She is their first 2025 draft pick to sign.

PWHL Vancouver
It's been a quiet month so far for general manager Cara Gardner Morey and her team. No new additions have been made. The lone move that PWHL Vancouver has made in the last few weeks was signing defender Ashton Bell to a two-year contract extension.

— Sportsnet 650 (@Sportsnet650) August 14, 2025
Bell was the team's first pick in the expansion draft and has one year left on her original contract. The extension, announced on August 14, takes her through the 2027-28 season in Vancouver. Bell appeared in 27 games this past season for the Ottawa Charge, registering six points.
I said it in my July recap, and I'll say it again: I'd really like to see PWHL Vancouver lock up some of its draft picks and fill out the roster a bit more.
