The PWHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday the plans for two PWHL games held at PPG Paints Arena and Little Caesars Arena in March for “PWHL Takeover Weekend.”

“Bringing these games to three outstanding venues during Women’s History Month will create an unforgettable highlight of this inaugural PWHL season,” said PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations, Jayna Hefford. “For fans attending these games and players who are competing on the ice, this will be a great celebration of the advancement and opportunity for women and hockey everywhere.”

PWHL Ottawa and PWHL Boston will square off first on Saturday, March 16th in Detroit at 6 PM. The two clubs have already played once in Ottawa at TD Place, where Boston came out on top 3-2. They will play each other twice more in February at the Tsongas Center in Lowell February 19th and 21st before the game in Detroit.

Meanwhile the following day on Sunday, March 17th, PWHL Toronto and PWHL Montréal hit the ice in Pittsburgh for their fourth matchup of the season. Toronto took their first matchup in a shootout 4-3 on January 20th. The two teams also were already announced to be playing a now sold out game at Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, on February 16th.

PWHL Minnesota and PWHL New York were already set to play in Minnesota’s home arena of Xcel Energy Center on March 16th at 3:30 PM. All six clubs will therefore be playing in NHL arenas over the course of the two days.

Capacity at Little Caesars Arena is 19,515 for a hockey matchup, while PPG Paints Arena can fit 18,187 spectators. They will become the fourth and fifth NHL arenas respectively to host a PWHL game behind the Xcel Energy Center, UBS Arena on Long Island, NY, and Scotiabank Arena.

Tickets for the Montréal/Toronto matchup in Pittsburgh go on sale February 9th at 2 PM EST while tickets for Boston/Ottawa will be available starting at 4 PM EST February 13th. Both sets of tickets will be available on ticketmaster.com. Tickets for the March 16th game between Minnesota and New York are already on sale.
