The Boston Pride announced on Friday that they had signed Connecticut Whale forward Caitrin Lonergan to a one-year deal ahead of Season 9. Last season as a rookie with the Whale she posted 18 points (10g-8a) over 23 games and added an additional two assists in three playoff games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Being born and raised in Boston, it is an honor to play for my hometown. The PHF is making a commitment to grow women’s professional hockey, and with players in the NCAA being given a chance to continue their careers, this is an unbelievable chance to grow the game for the future,” Lonergan was quoted as saying in the press release announcing her signing. “Thank you to the Boston Pride for this opportunity, I am so excited to get started and look forward to competing for the Isobel Cup.”
Lonergan joins newcomers Zoe Boyd, Chloé Aurard, Alina Müller, Katie Burt, Sophie Shirley, and Gabrielle David, as well as Pride returners Taylor Wenczkowski and Aneta Tejralová as players Boston has signed this off-season as they reload for a run at their fourth Isobel Cup.
