PHF announces roster expansion, salary cap details
Ahead of the 2022 Isobel Cup Playoffs, the PHF has announced roster expansion and a salary cap increase
As the 2022 Olympic cycle draws to a close and PHF teams gear up for the Isobel Cup Playoffs, the federation announced new details regarding roster configuration and salary cap on Wednesday.
Teams will be able to add up to two players from “other professional leagues” with an additional $10,000 in salary cap space that has been awarded to each franchise until March 14, at which point rosters will freeze. In addition, each club will now be able to roster 26 players, with 18 skaters dressed for game days — an increase of one additional skater as compared to the previous limits.
“These changes reflect the PHF’s long-standing commitment to providing opportunities for professional athletes and our goal of attracting world class talent to our teams,” said PHF commissioner Tyler Tumminia in the release.
With the conclusion of the 2022 Olympic Games, there’s a chance we could see players from any number of national team rosters signed to a contract in the PHF — including Czech forward Tereza Vanišová and defender Sammy Kolowrat, both of whom spent the 2020-21 season in the PHF.
The 2022 Isobel Cup Playoffs will be held on neutral ice in Florida, with all six teams competing for the Cup between March 25 and 28.
