From the purple carpet to the stage, PWHL draftees came dressed & ready to rock at the draft in Ottawa earlier this week. Although I'm still not sure anyone can top Emma Maltais' look from the inaugural draft in Toronto a few years ago (can you say iconic?), here's a collection of my favorite styles from the night.

Unfortunately, the only available photos seem to be of those players who were actually selected, on stage. I'm sure there were plenty of other great fits on the purple carpet, but because I can't see them, I can't judge them.

Kristýna Kaltounková

1st round, 1st overall - New York Sirens

Why I'm loving it: The best outfits are always those worn with confidence, and it's clear that this is a power look from Kaltounková. It's clear that she feels powerful and strong here, and that she's stayed true to herself with this outfit. Wear what you feel good in and it'll show!

The color palette here is simple and refined, yet it all comes together. I love the pops of brown with her belt and shoes, and the simple necklace to further accessorize. Also, wearing a turtleneck and blazer in late June is a boss move in and of itself. Who cares if it's 70+ degrees outside?

(As an aside, I can't decide if it's super cute or too cheesy that Sirens GM Pascal Daoust is wearing an "I Heart Sirens" tie. On one hand, I love the passion. On the other hand, the tie is probably too short and it'd be cleaner without the logo.)

Hannah Murphy

2nd round, 15th overall - PWHL Seattle

Why I'm loving it: Where do I even start? I'm obsessed. This look is so beautifully balanced. The cut of the top and the halter style show off Murphy's muscles (we know you worked hard for those!) while the long pants even things out from it being "too much." Her hair, her makeup, her brows - this glam feels so appropriate. The outfit is simple in color with minimal accessories, and it all fits together well. It also looks like she's got a nice classic pair of black heels on - not afraid to add more height to her already 5'10" frame. I love it.

Casey O'Brien

1st round, 3rd overall - New York Sirens

Why I'm loving it: This is a cute look for a player who knew they'd be drafted high. The suit style gives a very professional feel, but the fact that this is a dress keeps it from feeling too buttoned-up. O'Brien is also only 5'4", but this dress nicely shows off her athletic physique and makes her look taller than she is. It looks like she kept it clean with a low heel and a simple necklace to complete the overall look.

Brooke Becker

6th round, 46th overall - New York Sirens

Why I'm loving it: Becker had no way of knowing she'd be selected by the Frost, but this outfit feels perfect for her new team! A little black dress is highlighted by two pops of color: the shiny silver blazer, and the matching strappy sandals. Is it frosty in here, or is it just Brooke?

Clara Van Wieren

3rd round, 23rd overall - Toronto Sceptres

Why I'm loving it: This look, particularly the top half, is giving me late 90s or early 2000s vibes, and I'm here for it. (Saying this as a 1990 girl here.) The sheen of the shirt, the matching scarf, the hair pulled back – I could totally see Mandy Moore or Amanda Bynes sporting this top on a red carpet, or rocking it with a pair of jeans in my favorite teen movies of the day. Van Wieren balances out the shirt and scarf combo with a loose, flowing pair of white pants and either white or silver heels, and I like the overall look. If I'm being picky, the pants seem a smidge too long, so hopefully she wasn't tripping over them on her way up to the stage!

Jenna Buglioni

1st round, 8th overall - New York Sirens

Why I'm loving it: Several players were sporting all-white looks, but Buglioni's comes out on top in my book. Her dark hair balances the white outfit well. The vest and pants are perfectly proportioned for her small frame (she's 5'3") and the pants are the perfect length. This outfit says professional, but summery - perfect for a late June event. The pop of color with the red sandals is chef's kiss.

Abby Hustler

2nd round, 14th overall - Minnesota Frost

Why I'm loving it: This feels like another one of those looks where you can just tell the player is comfortable and confident in what they're wearing. It's not overly fancy or flashy, and it doesn't need to be. The top, which seems like something between a blazer and a cardigan, is cute without going too far into grandma style. While many players went with sandals or heels, Hustler chose sneakers for her look, and it's great! Wear what you want, wear what you like, feel like yourself and you'll look like a million bucks, no matter what.
