Minnesota Frost place Dominique Petrie on Long-Term Injured Reserve
Dominique Petrie sustained a lower-body injury in Sunday's game against Montréal, and she's been placed on long-term injured reserve.
On Thursday, the Minnesota Frost announced that center Dominique Petrie was placed on LTIR retroactive to Jan. 5 after Petrie sustained a lower-body injury in last Sunday’s game against the Montréal Victoire.
This season, through ten games, Petrie has scored two goals and was second among Frost forwards with 27 shots on goal. Petrie’s injury will hurt the Frost’s center depth; Petrie centered the Frost’s third line and was a regular on the power play. Petrie won’t be eligible to return to the lineup until Jan 28. She signed a two-year extension with the Frost back in August.
Unfortunately for Petrie, it’s the second LTIR stint of her PWHL career. Last December, Petrie was placed on LTIR for an upper-body injury. In 18 regular-season games last season, Petrie scored 10 points and was fifth among all PWHL rookies with 0.56 points per game. She also had an assist in last year’s playoff run.

On Thursday, in a corresponding move, The Frost activated Kaitlyn O’Donohoe from their reserve player list and signed her to a PWHL Standard Player Agreement. O’Donohoe saw action in nine games last year due to Petrie’s first LTIR stint.

Before playing for the Frost, O’Donohoe played for Brynäs IF in the SDHL in 2024-2025, where she scored two goals and seven points in 14 games. O’Donohoe played her college hockey at Colgate, where she scored 126 points in 179 games, including 19 goals and 44 points in 39 games in the 2022-2023 season.
The Frost are back in action this weekend. They take on the Seattle Torrent on Jan. 11, at Grand Casino Arena.
