Lisa Chesson to return to Buffalo Beauts for 2020-21 season

The two-time NWHL All-Star is back in blue.

The Buffalo Beauts signed their second player for the 2020-21 season: defender Lisa Chesson.

The Ohio State alumna had previously played three season in the NWHL from 2016-19, all with the Beauts. She was a two-time All Star, being named in 2018 and 2019, and has one Isobel Cup from 2017.

“The NWHL has made significant progress over the years in giving us a place to play, but most importantly, making an impact on the next generation of women’s players,” said Chesson in the league’s release. “I am beyond excited to have another opportunity to continue to grow the game both on and off the ice, and I’m really looking forward to next season with Buffalo and the NWHL.”

Chesson is a huge pick-up for the Beauts, who had defensive struggles last season. She had 17 points in her 37 regular season NWHL games with a +/- of +11. In the 2010 Olympics with Team USA, she had six points in five games. She’s also played in three World Championships and five Four Nations Cup with the National Team.

Chesson joins forward Taylor Accursi on the Beauts roster for season six. She is the first player who did not play in season five to sign for season six.
