Big weekend for the Buffalo Beauts

The Buffalo Beauts have a big two-city weekend on deck. They currently sit at third place in the NWHL, one point behind the Minnesota Whitecaps.

Saturday, Nov. 16

Buffalo Beauts at Boston Pride - 6:30 p.m. eastern
Twitch 2

The last time the Beauts visited the Pride, it was a tough weekend for them. They only scored three goals while giving up 12. The Beauts defense looked discombobulated at best, which didn’t help get their offense going. However, since then, the Beauts have had some confidence-boosting games plus more time to come together as a team.

The Pride come in undefeated while outscoring their opponents by 23 goals. They have three lines of forwards who can score, which is not great for an opposing team who’s defensive core is new. Boston’s downfall might be how often they are in the box - with 66 penalty minutes in seven games. The Beauts have converted on 30 percent of their power plays, so staying out of the box will be big for the Pride.

Buffalo Beauts at Connecticut Whale - 12:30 p.m. eastern
Twitch

These teams have faced off three time against each other this season, with the Beauts winning them all. However, all the games have been closer than what the scores say.

The Whale look better than they have in past seasons, but can’t seem to close out a game, especially against the Beauts. On Oct. 19, against the Beauts at home, they scored three goals in the first period before the Beauts came storming back to win in overtime. The next day, the Whale put up a strong stand down by three going into the third period. They scored two but an empty net goal sealed the deal for the Beauts.

Connecticut is hungry for their first win while Buffalo will be looking to jump - or extend - their standings lead over Minnesota. This Sunday afternoon game will be must watch hockey.
