Founding 4 Podcast: the Red Hot Buffalo Beauts
The Riveters no longer have the longest winning streak in the NWHL and the Whale no longer have the longest losing streak.
This week on the Founding 4 Podcast Mike and Erica break down last weekend’s NWHL action and preview the 2018 NWHL All-Star Weekend! So, clearly, there was plenty to talk about.
The Metropolitan Riveters are no longer the owners of the longest winning streak in the NWHL. Why? Because the red hot Buffalo Beauts put an end to the Riveters undefeated season with a 5-3 victory buoyed by not one, but two shorthanded goals. They were the first shorties scored this season in the NWHL by a non-Riveters team. But that wasn’t the only streak that came to an end last weekend.
The Connecticut Whale bested the Boston Pride in the shootout thanks to the golden hands of Emily Fluke. The big road win put an end to the Whale’s seven game losing streak and moved the underdog team up in the standings into third place. Oh, and can we talk about Fluke’s celebration? Seriously.
Oh, and did we mention that the All-Star Weekend is just around the corner?! What? We already did? Well, listen to the show to hear what we had to say about the skills competition, the game, Team Leveille, and Team Ott.
