Finland wins bronze at Inline Hockey European Championships

Shutout win earns Finland its first medal in inline competition

Team Finland shut out Team Italy 5-0 to take home the bronze at this month's European Inline Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic. It's the first time the team has medalled in competition.

Aino Karppinen led Team Finland in scoring with 13 points. Several familiar faces were on the Finnish roster, including Naisleijonat and 2018 Olympic hopefuls Minttu Tuominen and Annina Rajahuhta. Tuominen captained the team while Rajahuhta earned eight goals and four assists for 12 points in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Susanna Tapani’s quest for total rink sport domination continued according to plan; she now represents Finland in ice hockey, ringette, and inline hockey.

Seven nations played six games over the tournament’s four-day duration. The Czech Republic took gold in their home country with a 5-2 defeat over France.
