Erin Ambrose comes in second in Sportsnet Bracket Challenge in NHL20

She played against Zach Werenski in the finals.

Team Canada defender Erin Ambrose played her way into the finals of the Sportsnet Bracket Challenge in NHL20, making her way through three rounds of play.

She matched up against Zach Werenski for the chance to win either $10,000 or $5,000 for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, her chosen charity for the tournament.

Before the tournament started, in a Ask31 interview on Sportsnet Ambrose said her goal was to make it through one round. She obviously did more than that as she took down Christian Fischer in the first round, Evander Kane in the quarterfinals, and Zach Aston-Reese in the semifinals.

In the finals, despite Ambrose’s multiple comeback attempts and tying the game repeatedly, late goals by Werenski sealed the deal for him and his Columbus Blue Jackets to take the win. She walked away with $5,000 for her charity.

Team Canada teammate Mélodie Daoust was also in the tournament. She faced off against Jordan Binnington in the first round. She put up a good fight, but she lost to the goaltender in what she said was only her third game of NHL20. Daoust was playing for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
