"Obviously, I was super excited. It's a childhood dream coming true for me. Something I feel like every athlete dreams about when they're starting a sport is to reach that Olympic goal. I was super excited to make the team. We actually had a qualification tournament before. So my process is also a little bit different from the other girls because we qualified for the tournament about a year ago. We knew that we had the chance to go and there was a really exciting process." — 2026 Olympics Profile: St. Cloud State and Germany National Team Forward Svenja Voigt

Penn State’s Tessa Janecke Makes Childhood Olympic Dream Come True
Penn State star Tessa Janecke wrote down “I want to be an Olympian” as a goal when she was a child. Now the 21-year-old is accomplishing that objective at this year’s Winter Olympics.

"“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

That was the question posed to a young Tessa Janecke one day in elementary school. The now 21-year-old doesn’t remember exactly what she wrote but it was something to the tune of “I want to be an Olympian” followed by a drawing of a hockey stick." — Penn State's Tessa Janecke Makes Childhood Olympic Dream Come True
