Clarkson, Quinnipiac announce first Division I games of 2020-21 season

The ECAC teams have a four-games series planned.

The puck is finally dropping in Division 1 college hockey! On Nov. 4, Clarkson announced four games against their ECAC opponent Quinnipiac.

The pair will play two games in Potsdam, NY on Nov. 28 and 29. Both games will start at 3 p.m. eastern and be shown on ESPN +. No spectators will be allowed

They’ll then head to Quinnipiac’s home of Hamden, CT for another two games on Dec. 4 and 5.

Clarkson’s release calls the games “non league games” and says they mark the beginning of their COVID-shortened season.

This seems to the first set of Division I women’s hockey games announced for the 2020-21 season as, as of Nov. 5, no women’s hockey conferences have released plans after the season was officially delayed on Sept. 10.

The ECAC in particular has always had the most unclear path to holding a “normal season” as, on July 8, the Ivy League schools postponed the start of any sports until Jan. 1. Half of the ECAC schools are Ivy League schools.

As for the other four Division I conferences, the WCHA is close to announcing their plans to return to play, according to Todd Milewski.
