A couple of seasons ago, the Beauts were notorious for having a number of UMaine Black Bears alumni, including Carly Jackson and Alyson Matteau, on their roster. Now, it looks like Buffalo is trying for that kind of magic again, as they have announced the signing of former UMaine forward Ally Johnson just a day after signing defender Amalie Andersen from the same club.

Johnson has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Beauts, with terms not to be disclosed as per the press release. The Milwaukee native is the third new signing to the Buffalo roster for the 2023-24 season.

Judging by her stats, Johnson is a versatile forward, with experience at all three spots on the line. Her strong point is the faceoff circle, where she put up an excellent 241 wins to 219 losses in the dot over 33 games in her graduate year. Buffalo struggled overall with puck possession last year, so this is a great start to turning that around.

The 5-foot-8 forward joins Andersen and Tatum Amy as Buffalo's newest crop of rookies. The Beauts have also renegotiated terms with Summer-Rae Dobson and Dominique Kremer and re-signed Emma Nuutinen and Allison Attea from last year's roster.
