Buffalo Beauts Relieve Ric Seiling and Craig Muni of coaching duty

Former Sabre Cody McCormick named head coach

Ric Seiling and Craig Muni have been relieved of their duties as Buffalo Beauts co-head coaches. The announcement came shortly after 8 PM eastern standard time Friday, December 7.

Seiling had been with the team since the 2015-2016 inaugural season while Muni was named co-coach in 2016. They led the Beauts to their first Isobel Cup win in 2017. Seiling also served as General Manager in 2016-2017.

While Buffalo boasts an impressive roster that seemed poised for another Isobel Cup run, they currently sit third in the NWHL with six points in their six games played this season. They most recently dropped a four-game exhibition series to Team Russia, one game to three.

Former Buffalo Sabre Cody McCormick was named as interim head coach in the wake of the firing news. According to the NWHL’s press release, McCormick, 35, has worked at the Harborcenter’s Academy of Hockey and has done skills training with the Beauts this year. Being an ex-NHL player who actually has some prior women’s hockey experience, however tenuous, puts him above Randy Velischek, current coach of the last-place Metropolitan Riveters.

The Beauts host the Connecticut Whale at Harborcenter this weekend.
