Boston Pride sign Alyssa Gagliardi, Emily Field

Gagliardi and Field are OG Pride players

Two of the original Boston Pride players are returning for their fourth season in the league. Defender Alyssa Gagliardi and forward Emily Field have re-signed with the Pride.

The pair were key members for the Pride last season after the team lost nine players before the season and one during the season. Both were 2018 All Stars and on Team NWHL when the league had an exhibition series against Team USA ahead of the Olympics.

Gagliardi, a North Carolina native, scored her first two NWHL goal last season. She led the team in plus-minus last season and was one of the four NHWL Foundation Award winners.

From the press release:

“I’m incredibly excited to kick off Season 4 of the NWHL and represent the Boston Pride again,” said Gagliardi. “It’s an honor to be a part of this organization for another year. We’re looking to have a bounce-back season and compete for the Isobel Cup come March. I love the opportunity to play at the highest level and compete against top players from around the world. It’s going to be another incredible year for women’s hockey and the NWHL, and I can’t wait for October to get here”!

Field was second on the team in scoring last season. The Boston College alumna has 12 career goals in the NWHL.

NWHL 2017-18 Season Recap: Boston Pride

The Pride struggled last season, after making it to the Isobel Cup finals in the first two season. They were 4-8-4 on the season and fell in the semifinals in overtime. They’ll look to return to finals again this season.

They join new goaltender Katie Burt as the three players the Pride have signed thus far.
