Beauts double their presence at All-Star Showcase after fan vote
Buffalo sweeps the fan vote, will send four more players to Toronto
It certainly is a beautiful sight to see.
After fan voting commenced between Jan. 4-9 for Toronto’s All-Star Showcase set later this month, the results are in — and it’s all Beauts blue. Forwards Cassidy Vinkle, Kennedy Ganser, and Autumn MacDougall and goaltender Carly Jackson are all making their first of what’s bound to be many All-Star appearances to come.

Those four new additions to the All-Star cast join Dominique Kremer, Anjelica Diffendal, and co-captains Taylor Accursi and MJ Pelletier, who were selected from the Beauts roster by PHF coaches and general managers, as announced last week. Jackson has been named the EBUG for the event (one hell of an EBUG, there, PHF).
According to the league’s press release regarding the fan vote, Vinkle and Jackson essentially ran away with the tallies, with Vinkle taking roughly 50 percent of all entries amongst skaters and CJ taking around 45 percent of the goalie vote. But I mean, were we really all that surprised? I’d made it clear in my list of All-Star snubs that each of these players had a huge case for being on this roster. Vinkle is a force on the Beauts’ offense, while Jackson has made some spectacular stops between the pipes.
As for MacDougall and Ganser, they’re the other two-thirds of the well-known (amongst Beauts fans, anyway) “Panda” line alongside Vinkle, a line that has produced and wreaked havoc for Buffalo so far this season. Macdougall has insane speed, while Ganser mixes toughness with great playmaking skills to round out this trio. Together this line has combined for two goals and seven assists over five games played, and it’s no wonder the fans thought they deserved the recognition.
The All-Star announcements prior to the event will conclude with a virtual draft this weekend on ESPN+, during the intermissions for each PHF game. The first six names selected among the three captains — Jillian Dempsey, Shiann Darkangelo, and Allie Thunstrom — will be announced Saturday afternoon, with the full rosters to be revealed Sunday.
The All-Star Game is, at this point, set to take place Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at York Canlan Ice Center.
