A snapshot of the CWHL record book

Today the CWHL ceased operations, marking an end to a pivotal chapter in the history of not just women’s hockey, but hockey in North America.

Unfortunately, finding definitive records for the CWHL is no small task; it requires a great deal more than a quick search on Elite Prospects. The CWHL’s site has stats for individual players starting from the 2010-11 season, which excludes statistics from the first three years of the league’s existence. Furthermore, Elite Prospects has almost no stats from the 2009-10 season and often has conflicting numbers with other sources.

Because of these obstacles and others, putting together a definitive list of the CWHL’s all-time and single season records is more challenging than you might think.

We’ve put together a list of those records here at The Ice Garden with the knowledge — and the hope — that we will update this list of records if and whenever more credible sources are presented to us or become available. We believe that it’s important to try and preserve as much history as possible and this is just one small step towards that goal.

The CWHL as we know it may be over, but the achievements and accomplishments of its athletes need to be preserved and remembered.
