There’s no debate anymore: Sarah Fillier is the face of the next generation in women’s hockey. From the NCAA to the Olympics to the PWHL, the 25-year-old forward has built a resume that’s already Hall of Fame-worthy, and she’s only just getting started.

2024-25 Season

Fillier made her highly anticipated professional debut with the New York Sirens, and she didn’t disappoint. In 30 games, she scored 13 goals and added 16 assists for 29 points, nearly a point-per-game pace that immediately established her as one of the league’s most dangerous forwards. Her ability to control play in the offensive zone and deliver in clutch moments helped New York stay competitive in their inaugural campaign.

She also suited up once again for Team Canada at the 2025 World Championship, where she chipped in four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in seven games. While Canada ultimately settled for silver, Fillier remained one of the team’s most consistent offensive drivers, continuing the role she’s played since bursting onto the senior international stage.

Past and Future

Fillier’s career has been defined by excellence at every level. She dominated with the Oakville Hornets before arriving at Princeton, where she quickly became the face of the program. She finished her NCAA career with 194 points in 120 games and three Patty Kazmaier Award finalist nods, captaining the Tigers and cementing her legacy as one of the greatest players in ECAC history.

Internationally, Fillier has been a fixture for Canada since her teenage years, winning silver and bronze with the U18 team before making the leap to the senior roster. Since then, she’s collected Olympic gold, three World Championship golds, and individual accolades like World Championship MVP and Best Forward (2023). Whether scoring highlight-reel goals or shutting down top opponents, she has proven herself as one of the most complete players in the sport.

Now, with the PWHL spotlight shining brightly, Fillier has the chance to become the face not just of her franchise, but of the league itself. Her skill, leadership, and star power make her the kind of player who can define an era.
