Caroline “KK” Harvey hasn’t started her last season of college hockey yet but she was already named WCHA Preseason Player of the Year and chosen as captain of the Wisconsin Badgers after serving as co-captain last season. At 22 years old, Harvey is a seasoned veteran who will continue to add to her accolades and still has the pro ranks left to dominate.

2024-25 Season

Last season was Harvey’s third season with the Badgers and it began with her becoming the fastest blueliner in team history to reach 100 career points. She then broke the school record for most points by a defender, had the most assists by a defender, and won a national championship, too. The left-shot defender finished the season with 63 points in 41 games – the most by a blueliner in a season in program history. Her 137 points are the most by a defender in program history as well and she still has a full season left to play!

Harvey also had a 14-game point streak, three four-point games, and recorded 50 blocks last year. She helped the Badgers to another title when she scored in the championship game against Ohio State.

A great number of awards were handed out to Harvey: WCHA Defender of the Year, AHCA First-Team All-American, All-WCHA First Team, WCHA Final Faceoff All-Tournament Team, top three finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, and finalist for the WCHA Player of the Year.

Did we mention this was her third year of college hockey?!

Harvey also played in the 2025 Women’s World Championship with Team USA where she had four points in seven games and won a gold medal. She was also honored as one of the 2025 IIHF Female Player of the Year candidates.

Past and Future

Harvey is an incredibly talented and esteemed player. Aside from her collegiate accolades, she is also an Olympian, having represented the United States in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, where she won a silver medal at 19 years old. She has also played with Team USA at the Women’s World Championship for the last five years where she has won two gold and three silver medals. She was also part of the U18 team where she won a gold and silver medal and regularly takes part in the Rivalry Series as well. Being a mainstay for Team USA at 22 years old speaks volumes to how much talent and experience Harvey brings to the ice and how much her coaches and teammates respect and trust her.

Last year’s championship was Harvey’s second in three years with the Badgers. The New Hampshire native has made it to the finals every season in college and helped Wisconsin make it to the championship game in 2023 when she scored the overtime game winning goal in the semifinals. And she was named Best Defender at the 2023 and 2025 Worlds.

Harvey’s future is bright and there’s no doubt about that. Taking into account all she has already accomplished, she has one more year of college and the pros left to conquer. She will only continue to get better as a player with another season in Wisconsin and more experience with the national team, and she will be a contender for a spot on the Olympic team for the Milan-Cortina games in the winter. Come PWHL draft time, Harvey could definitely be a high pick. I see her as a potential number one overall pick, especially if she puts together another record-breaking season with the Badgers.

An intelligent, skillful, and tenacious player, Caroline Harvey is both a veteran of the sport and someone who still has the potential to grow, all in stunning fashion.
