There’s just one game on the docket tonight, which means we all know what we’re watching. It’s Team Canada vs Team Finland and it should be a doozy.

Thus far, Canada is off to a roaring start after a statement 12-1 win over the Swiss, whereas the Finns are reeling after being badly outplayed by Team USA, dropping their first game by a score of 5-2. This game represents an important opportunity for the Finns to bounce back, but that will be a tall task against the mighty Team Canada.

How to Watch

  • U.S. viewers: 11:10 p.m. on Peacock, NBCOlympics.com, USA Network
  • Canadian viewers: 11:10 p.m. ET on CBC | Stream: CBC.ca
  • World-Feed commentators: Darren Kilfara

What to Watch For

  • Without Pasi — The Finns will have to find a way forward without head coach Pasi Mustonen, who left the team for serious family health concerns. Assistant coach Juuso Toivola will serve as head coach for the remainder of the 2022 Olympics. Mustonen is a huge part of Finland’s identity. How they respond to his departure will, in all likelihood, define this Olympic tournament.
  • Spooner is on a Roll — Thus far, Spooner leads Team Canada in scoring with 2 goals and 3 assists in 1 GP. Yeah, she had herself a day against Team Switzerland. So too did Claire Thompson and Blayre Turnbull. When you win your first game by a score of 12-1, there’s a good chance a bunch of people had themselves a day.
  • Goaltending — Anni Keisala did not look sharp against Team USA in her first start until she had already allowed a few goals. With that said, she did finish the game with a .903 Sv% after facing 52 shots. So, yeah, she did pretty damn well, considering what she was going up against. If Finland is to have any chance of picking up a point in this one against Canada, they will need their goaltending to be even better. All eyes will be on that goal crease tonight.
