Whale’s new jersey for the 2020-21 season revealed on NWHL Open Ice

A new look for one of the Founding Four teams

The Connecticut Whale’s new home jersey for the 2020-21 season was revealed during today’s special edition of NWHL Open Ice with GamerDoc on Twitch.

The Whale’s new home sweater is white with a more streamlined look than last year’s jersey. The trademark waves on the sleeves and on the bottom stripe are gone and have been replaced by an extended shoulder stripe. There appears to be a whale tail motif on both the sleeves and socks, which is definitely a new look for Connecticut.

The Whale’s green road jersey for 2020-21 is similar to what Connecticut wore in 2019-20, but there’s more white around the collar in this iteration which definitely carries with it some strong throwback vibes. Thankfully, the away sweater still has the trademark wave(s) on the sleeves and bottom stripe.

Most importantly, everyone’s favorite smiley Whale has a home atop the shoulders of both jerseys.

As of yet, no alternate jersey for the Whale has been revealed or announced. But, given the Whale’s history, one would have to expect any potential alternate will be blue. Keep your fingers crossed.

Another note: a few signings were announced during NWHL Open Ice, including the return of Janine Weber to the Whale and former Whale forward Kayla Meneghin signing with the Buffalo Beauts.
