24 PWHPA players to play in USPHL’s “Hub City Tampa”

A group of American players from the New Hampshire and Minnesota hubs will play for two weeks in Florida.

The PWHPA announced a group of players will travel to Tampa Bay, Florida for two weeks to play a series of exhibition games against USPHL Tier-2 NCDC teams as part of the USPHL’s “Hub City Tampa.” The team will be made up of 24 players from the New Hampshire and Minnesota hubs.

The players will be in Tampa Bay from Jan. 4 - 18 and isolate at Saddlebrook Resort with practices and games at AdventHealth Center Ice.

The release did not include information on how many games they will play nor how to watch them. According to the USPHL site on “Hub City Tampa,” the USPHL games will be on a forthcoming USPHL/HockeyTV channel, so you can safely assuming the PWHPA exhibition games would be on the same.

The USPHL NCDC is a pre-college league. The USPHL describes it as “a unique, tuition-free, Junior hockey division geared toward Division I collegiate development placement and beyond.” The New Hampshire hub played USPHL teams back in October.

Bill Flanagan, who is the general manager and coach of the New Hampshire hub, will hold the same roles for this team as well as being the financial backer. Flanagan also is the owner and coach of a USPHL team, the Northern Cyclones.
