As part of a partnership, the PWHPA announced today the Toronto hub will be named Team Sonnet, the first of the hubs to be named.

The naming comes from a new partnership with Sonnet, Canada’s digital home and auto insurance company.

“Sonnet is already integrated into the men’s game, and we are thrilled to have the women of the PWHPA join their team. Sonnet has stepped up and committed to stand with us, as we advocate for more equitable opportunities for women and a better future for our sport,” said Jayna Hefford, PHWPA Operations Consultant in the organization’s release.

Along with the new name comes new jerseys. Last season, the players had a navy blue and a white set of jerseys.

This year, Team Sonnet will done a set of turquoise and a set of white jerseys. The feature the PWHPA logo on the crest with Sonnet splashed across the bottom of the jerseys. The Secret Dream Gap logo is in the top left while the NHLPA logo is on the top right. Secret is on the right shoulder yolk.

The PWHPA recently announced a $1 million corporate commitment from Secret. They are also the sponsor of the Secret Cup and are helping fund the cash prizes for players from the 2020-21 Dream Gap Tour stop.

In addition, the five training hubs - or teams - all have set rosters this season, different from last season’s rotating rosters.
