Shea Tiley signs with SDHL’s HV71

HV71 adds more strength to a position of strength

Two-time NCAA national champion and member of Team Canada’s 2018 Four Nations roster Shea Tiley has signed with HV71 of the SDHL.

Tiley, who spent last season in the CWHL with the Toronto Furies, joins an HV71 club that sits atop the regular season standings with 75 points in 28 games. Spanish netminder Alba Gonzalo leads the SDHL in wins and has a .925 save percentage and a 1.46 GAA this season, so it will be interesting to see how much action Tiley sees.

In the 2018-19 CWHL season, Tiley finished fifth among all goaltenders in saves (384) and earned a .914 save percentage. Excluding the goalies on the KRS Vanke Rays roster, Tiley is the second goaltender who played in the CWHL last season to sign with an SDHL team. The other, Lindsey Post, is having tremendous success — to the tune of a .945 save percentage — with SDE.

Tiley, 23, was a four-year starter at Clarkson University, winning national championships in 2017 and 2018. She also won gold with Team Canada at the IIHF 2014 U18 Women’s World Junior Championship. This year, she’s been on the ice for several PWHPA showcases.
