UConn Huskies beat the Connecticut Whale; 4 - 1

UConn: Taylor Wabick (Natalie Snodgrass) [PP], Claire Peterson (Morgan Wabick, Camryn Wong), Danika Pasqua (Viki Harkness, Savannah Bouzide) [PP], Peterson
Whale: Sarah Schwenzfeier (Emma Vlasic)

The Whale were outshot 46 - 16 in a rough exhibition against UConn in Storrs, Conn. Saturday afternoon. They also committed six penalties and gave up two power play goals.

The three goaltenders on their roster - Sonjia Shelly, Brooke Wolejko, and Cassandra Goyette - split the game equally and saw a pretty much equal number of shots.

Not a great first outing for the Whale who were sporting a new look - green jerseys.

Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs tied Minnesota Whitecaps; 2 - 2

Minnesota Duluth: Ryleigh Houston (Sydney Brodt), Anna Klein (Maggie Flaherty, Gabbie Hughes)
Whitecaps: Allie Thunstrom, Audra Richards

The Whitecaps fared a bit better this weekend than the previous exhibition against the University of Minnesota. It was a much closer game, plus it gave the Bulldogs their first look at the new WCHA 3-on-3 overtime format. Neither team scored in the extra time and they skipped the shootout portion.

The Riveters came out rolling against a brand new NCAA team - the Long Island University Sharks who are coached by long time women’s hockey coach Rob Morgan and former NWHL player Sam Faber.
