The Ice Garden is hiring writers. Keep reading to find out if this is the perfect opportunity for you.

What do the roles entail?

The writers will be responsible for writing posts about women’s hockey on agreed-upon topics and schedules. We have openings for multiple contributors. We’re looking for one contributor based in the Midwest who could cover WCHA hockey, and one NWHL writer. If you’re interested in either of these angles, please specify in your cover letter. These are remote, part-time, contract roles compensated with a monthly stipend.

What qualifications should you have?

Our best candidates will:

  • Have a passion for women’s hockey and will already be familiar with The Ice Garden.
  • Be able to produce and edit clean copy.
  • Be comfortable working in a remote environment.
  • Have a skill set, availability, and experience that lines up with the specific role you’re applying to fill.
  • Aptitude for Q&As and interviewing.
  • Previous hockey writing experience is preferred. /

How do you apply?

To apply, please submit a cover letter explaining why you’re the best fit for the role, a resume detailing any previous writing experience, and a hockey-related sample. You must submit all three items via the Vox Media careers page to be considered for these roles.

If you have questions about these roles or the application process, reach out to Jeanna Thomas, SB Nation’s Senior Talent Manager for Team Brands, at jeanna.thomas@sbnation.com.

The Ice Garden and SB Nation are committed to bringing you coverage of women’s hockey from a diverse array of voices and perspectives. If your qualifications and experience do not perfectly align with every single thing we’re looking for, but you believe you have the ability to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
