SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: Penultimate Pandemonium

The end is near and only four teams remain with a shot at the trophy.

With only three games to go there looks to be very little change remaining this season, but our next poll will have a champion.

Frozen Four field is set: Wisconsin, Minnesota, Clarkson, and Cornell advance

1. Wisconsin (33-4-0), 107 (8) — Last poll: 1

•  Last Week: W 4-0 v Syracuse

•  Coming Week: v Clarkson (3/22), NCAA Championship (3/24)

An easy win for the Badgers over the CHA champion Syracuse advanced them to the Frozen Four.  Their next opponent is the two time defending champion who won the tournament last time it was in Hamden.

2. Minnesota (31-5-1), 102 (3)— Last poll: 2

•  Last week: W 5-2 v Princeton (3/16)

•  Coming Week: v Cornell (3/22), NCAA Championship (3/24)

The Gophers got a scare but came out on top and as a reward get to play another Ivy league team with a championship berth on the line.

3. Clarkson (30-7-2), 87 — Last poll: 4

•  Last week: W 2-1 OT v Boston College (3/16)

•  Next week: v Wisconsin (3/22), NCAA Championship (3/24)

It took overtime but the Golden Knights were able to overcome Boston College en route to a possible threepeat earning themselves “Belles of the Ball” honors this week.

4. Northeastern (27-6-5), 72 — Last poll: 3

•  Last week: L 2-3 OT v Cornell (3/16)

•  Next week: No Games

The Huskies were without Alina Mueller and were unable to overcome the loss as they fell in overtime to Cornell.

5. Cornell (24-5-6), 69 — Last poll: 6

•  Last week:  W 3-2 OT @ Northeastern (3/16)

•  This week: v Minnesota (3/22), NCAA Championship (3/24)

The Big Red took advantage of the Huskies missing Mueller and never trailed in their quarterfinal matchup. Their reward is a date with Minnesota.

6. Boston College (26-12-1), 58 — Last poll: 5

•  Last week: L 1-2 OT @ Clarkson (3/16)

•  Next week: No Games

The Eagles came out firing against Clarkson but fell just short of winning in regulation before eventually falling in overtime.

7. Princeton (20-8-5), 44 — Last poll: 7

•  Last week: L 2-5 @ Minnesota (3/16)

•  This week: No Games

The Tigers scored first and came back in the second but they just did not have enough firepower to take out the Gophers.

T-8. Boston University (21-8-8), 20 — Last poll: T-8

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

The Terriers were watching from afar as they were unable to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

T-8. Ohio State (20-13-0), 20 — Last poll: T-8

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week:  No Games

Ohio State stays tied with Boston University as both teams have completed their seasons.

10. Colgate (23-10-5), 1 — Last poll: 10

•  Last week: No Games

•  Next week: No Games

The Raiders seemingly will finish the season comfortably ensconced in this spot.
