Goal by Goal: Game 3 of the Rivalry Series

Canada takes game three, 2-0, and the series, 2-1

The rubber match in the 2019 Rivalry Series was a little more like Game 1 than Game 2 — a low scoring affair. The United States’ power play was less than good, and coach Bob Corkum rolled the lines a fair amount. Canadian goaltender Shannon Szabados was a wall stopping more than 30 shots for a shutout.

CANADA GOAL
Brianne Jenner on the power play (Renata Fast, Bridgette Lacquette) at 4:40 in the first period
Canada: 1 - USA: 0

Natalie Spooner puts an great screen on Alex Rigsby leaving Jenner the space she needs to get Canada on the board early in the game.

CANADA GOAL
Blayre Turnbull (Laura Stacey) at 2:25 in the second period
Canada: 2 - USA: 0

A great passing play leads to Canada’s second goal with Stacey hitting a streaking Turnbull to put Canada up two.

USA NO GOAL
Canada: 2 - USA: 0

The US thought they had one on Savannah Harmon’s rebound shot. But, Dana Trivigno interfered with Canadian goalie Shannon Szabados, calling the goal back.
