Boston University wins 2019 Beanpot
The Terriers got those beans for the first time as a varsity team
For the first time as a varsity program, Boston University won the 2019 Beanpot, beating Harvard in overtime, 3 - 2. Junior Sammy Davis scored the game winning goal.
Davis, a redshirt junior who missed last season due to hip surgery, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as well. She now has 22 goals on the season, tying her for third in the nation.

This was BU’s first Beanpot win as a varsity program. Their previous title came in 1981, when the team was still a club program. The Terriers were elevated to an NCAA team for the 2005-06 season.
Harvard’s goalie Lindsey Reed made 51 saves while BU’s goalie Corinne Schroder stopped 30. Four of the five goals were power play goals, including the game winning goal.
“We kept saying, ‘Do it for the ladies of the ’80s,’ ” Davis said post game.

Both of BU’s Beanpot games required extra time.
In the first round last week, BU and Northeastern were tied following regulation. They played a five minute overtime before heading to a shootout. Senior Reagan Rust, who scored a goal in the first game, had the game winner in the shootout.

Earlier in the evening, Boston College beat Northeastern, 4 - 1, in the consolation game.
