Brigette Lacquette, Liz Knox named CWHL All-Star captains
Fans voted in the Inferno defender and the Thunder goaltender as captains for 2019 game
During their Sportsnet Weekend, the CWHL announced the two 2019 All Star captains as voted by the fans: Calgary Inferno defender Brigette Lacquette and Markham Thunder goaltender Liz Knox. They will take to the ice for the 2019 CWHL All-Star Game on Jan. 20 in Toronto.
The pair will pick teams from out of a group of 34 players that was released in three groups in December. In the past, captains have picked their starting lineups before choosing the rest of their team by picking up sticks. So far, the league has not announced how this year’s teams will be picked.

Lacquette currently is tied for second in points among defenders in the CWHL with 15 points in 18 games. A popular player and Canadian Olympian, she’s a star off the ice as well and spends a significant amount of time giving back to her community. In February 2018, she was the first First Nations woman to play on Canada’s Olympic hockey team.
Knox has started in seven games this season. She has a .888 save percentage. The Thunder had a large social media push to encourage fans to vote for Knox.

Past CWHL All Star captains include Carlee Campbell versus co-captains Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson in 2016–17, Spooner versus Julie Chu in 2015–16, and Charline Labonté versus Jessica Campbell in 2014–15.
