Johanna Olofsson Returns To MODO Hockey

They say the first retirement never sticks.

Defender Johanna Olofsson called off her retirement and returned to active duty this weekend. She played her first game back on home ice on September 23 at the Fjällräven Center in MODO’s 5-4 victory over SDE.

Olofsson, 26, played over 300 games across 11 seasons with MODO. Prior to her retirement in May she was also a staple on the Damkronorna’s blue line with two Olympic appearance and nearly a decade of Team Sweden experience.

She credits her decision to time spent with the team at MODO Sports Academy:

”I have felt the urge for a while now and it seems to be a super lovely group. I’ve been working with them since the end of last season and throughout this season so I’m pretty well aware of them. Maybe it was because the craving came back, too, when I worked with them so much.”

MODO’s next game is Saturday, September 29 at Linköping.
