Team USA defender Sidney Morin will return to the SDHL to join Linköping HC, the club announced Thursday.
Morin, 23, played 21 regular-season games with MODO Hockey last season before being called up to Olympic centralization in November 2017. She had a stellar rookie campaign, finishing second in the league’s defender scoring with 10 goals and 22 assists for a total of 32 points. She played an integral role in MODO’s offensive resurgence and was the team’s highest-scoring defender.
Morin joins her former University of Minnesota-Duluth teammate Lara Stalder and fellow alumni Kim Martin-Hasson in Linköping. She is the first American-born Olympic gold medalist to play in the SDHL.
