Hello from the new site manager!

More of a re-introduction than an introduction...

Hi, I’m Michelle Jay, and I’m the new site manager of The Ice Garden!

You may know me from my women’s hockey photography, or my random ramblings on Twitter, or as one half of Top Shelf. And if you don’t, hi, nice to meet you, I’m one part photographer, one part podcaster, and now one part site manager.

Since Day One, I’ve loved this site, everything it has done, and everything it can do. It’s an incredibly special group of people that I’m honored and excited to lead.

I want to take a moment to thank a few people. First is Hannah Bevis, former site manager, my podcast co-host, and one of my best friends. TIG and myself would not be what it is today without Hannah. The second are Mike Murphy, Erica Ayala, and Meredith Foster. The four of us held the fort down in the interim, and they are the three people I turn to the most. I’m lucky to have them in my corner. The third are my boyfriend and my family who are constantly supporting me and my crazy life covering women’s hockey (though I think my boyfriend is mostly okay with it because he gets pizza on Saturday nights after Boston Pride games). Okay, enough of the sappy stuff.

Let’s see, what else am I supposed to say in this? I live in Boston. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I love dogs and tacos and pasta and beer and wine and snowboarding and the color blue and traveling. I went to Boston University. I don’t have a favorite team nor a favorite player. I’m sarcastic and occasionally sassy. I’m 5-foot-4. I have a love-hate relationship with running. Mac n cheese should be eaten with a spoon.

I’ll also shamelessly plug my Instagram @michelle_jay3 which is partially women’s hockey photos and mostly a highlight reel of my life.

As for anything else...my Twitter is always open (millennial problems), so shoot me a follow, a note, a DM, a dog picture at @michelle_jay3.
