Top Shelf Podcast Episode 12: Müller and Miano Madness

The Olympics are crazy, the Beanpot was crazy, and Alina Müller and Toni Ann Miano ARE REALLY REALLY GOOD

Casey Sudetic

Hello and welcome to Top Shelf, where we keep the hot takes and the hard liquor!

This is a podcast where Michelle Jay and Hannah Bevis have a couple drinks, get a little tipsy, and talk about the biggest stories in women’s hockey. We’ll be talking about a little bit of everything on this podcast from the NCAA to the NWHL and CWHL to U Sports and SDHL and AWIHL and whatever else comes up.

We’re on iTunes now too! You can find us under the Founding Four Podcast channel - currently we’re still sharing a Soundcloud account (but we do have our own Top Shelf playlist on it now). We’re going to try and figure out how to get each podcast its own channel, but for now you can find everything there (and really, you should listen to both of them, because they’re both wonderful).

We recorded a little late this week so that we could talk about the epic USA/Canada game. We also talked about some of the highlights from the preliminary play and talk about what we think might happen in the next week of the Olympics.

Michelle also gives us the deets on the Beanpot championship, we play another round of #StumpHannah and answer a couple of excellent mailbag questions, including an inagural round of Start, Bench, Cut.

Did you play along with us during the Start, Bench, Cut segment? Comment or tweet us and let us know what you would do for each group! You can find all the ones we talked about on the podcast below:

1. Coyne, Decker, Knight

2. Rooney, Pannek, Barnes

3. Spooner, Agosta, Wakefield

4. D’Oench, Russo, Gruschow

5. Müller, Kessel, Poulin

6. M. Lamoureux-Morando, J. Lamoureux-Davidson, Marvin

If you want to ask a question that we might answer in our mailbag, comment below, tweet at @Hannah_Bevis1 or @michelle_jay3 using the hashtag #topshelfmailbag, or message our Tumblr.

We also want to see your selfies! Tweet out a photo of where you listen to the podcast with the hashtag #TopShelfie. Hopefully, we’ll start getting some podcast merch made that we can give out as prizes for them.

(A note, there IS some swearing on this podcast. We try to keep it PG. It mostly works.)
