Weekend Recap: Dec 29 - 30

Big games, big lights.

Pat McCarthy

Sat. Dec. 29

Minnesota Whitecaps beat Buffalo Beauts at KeyBank Center; 2 - 1

Goals

  • Beauts: Blake Bolden
  • Whitecaps: Kendall Coyne-Schofield, Lee Stecklein

Coyne-Schofield and Stecklein both netted their first NWHL goals. The game at the KeyBand Center also is the first away game for Coyne-Schofield who typically does not travel with the team.

Sun. Dec. 30

Beauts beat Whitecaps in Buffalo, 4 - 0

Goals

  • Beauts: Maddie Elia (2), Emily Pfalzer, Haley Scammura (power play)
  • Whitecaps: n/a

Nicole Hensley stopped 33 shots for a shutout.

Boston Pride beat Connecticut Whale in Stamford in overtime; 2 - 1

Goals

  • Pride: Toni Ann Miano, Haley Skarupa
  • Whale: Michelle Löwenhielm

The Pride were without Gigi Marvin, who was injured in the team’s last game before the break. They definitely looked a bit different without her and possibly were shaking off some holiday rust. The game was laden with penalties as well, breaking up some of the flow of the game. Löwenhielm’s goal was the first her NWHL career.

CWHL
