SB Nation’s Women’s College Hockey Division I Poll: Tiger Time

With our final poll of 2018 we seemed to have settled into a set top 10.

Jennifer Bock

This weekend pretty much went according to plan besides one big loss and was especially calm compared to weekend. This will be our last poll of the semester as there is only one series this coming weekend.

1. Wisconsin (19-1-0), 139 (13) — Last Week: 1

• Last Week: W 8-2 @ St. Cloud State (12/7), W 3-1 @ St. Cloud State (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

The Badgers comfortably swept the Huskies and will end the semester atop our poll.

2. Minnesota (17-2-1), 126 (1) — Last Week: 2

• Last Week: W 6-1 v Robert Morris (12/7), W 5-0 v Robert Morris (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

The Gophers went out of conference to play a team that might have to come to Minneapolis in the NCAA tournament and cleaned the Colonials’ clocks.

3.Northeastern (13-2-2), 99 — Last Week: 3

• Last Week: No Games

• Coming Week: No Games

The Huskies were idle and won’t be back in action till they take on Clarkson in Ireland which will hopefully settle some of our pollsters’ confusion between the two teams.

4. Clarkson (14-4-0), 92 — Last Week: 4

• Last Week: W 4-0 @ St. Lawrence (12/7), W 3-1 v St. Lawrence (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

The Golden Knights handled rival St. Lawrence and re-cemented themselves as a top four team. They can begin to move back up when they take on Northeastern in Ireland.

5. Cornell (8-1-4), 79 — Last Week: 5

• Last Week: No Games

• Coming Week: No Games

The Big Red were idle but have set themselves up nicely for the second half.

6. Princeton (9-2-3), 68 — Last Week: 9

• Last Week: W 5-2 @ Rensselaer (12/7), W 4-0 @ Union (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

The Tigers handled their business this weekend and skyrocketed up the poll earning the title of this week’s “Belles of the Ball.” Princeton currently sits atop both the ECAC and the Ivy standings.

7. Ohio State (12-6-0), 55 — Last Week: 6

• Last Week: No Games

• Coming Week: v Mercyhurst (12/15, 12/16)

The Buckeyes will try to sneak two more wins in before taking their finals.

8. Providence (15-3-0), 48 — Last Week: 8

• Last Week: W 8-0 @ Brown (12/4), W 5-1 v Holy Cross (12/7)

• Coming Week: No Games

Winning the Mayor’s Cup and handling Holy Cross leaves the Friars in good shape for the second half.

9.Colgate (11-5-2), 32 — Last Week: 10

• Last Week: W 5-2 @ Syracuse (12/6), W 4-2 v Syracuse (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

A pair of non-conference wins has Colgate gaining steam and back in the tournament discussion.

10. Boston College (13-7-0), 27 — Last Week: 7

• Last Week: W 4-3 OT v Merrimack (12/7), L 0-1 @ Merrimack (12/8)

• Coming Week: No Games

The Eagles just keep hearing Tom Petty on repeat as they continue to free fall in the polls and computer rankings. After gritting out a win at home thanks to Megan Keller, their offense didn’t make the trip to Andover as they were shut out by Merrimack.
