The Boston Pride bested the Buffalo Beauts in the first of two games between the teams this past weekend. Boston won the match 4-1, getting two goals from Gigi Marvin and two goals from Jillian Dempsey. The lone Beauts goal came on an even strength goal from Hayley Scamurra in the 2nd period.
One of the more interesting moments came when Emily Pfalzer got absolutely launched into the air and into Pride Goaltender Katie Burt. Pfalzer flew down the right wing side, coming in hot, and cut towards the net with speed. Pride defender Kaleigh Fratkin got between Pfalzer and the net, made contact, and before you can say “kick save and a beaut”, Pfalzer was hurtling through the air towards the Pride net, resulting in a massive pileup inside the Boston net.
Pfalzer got up under her own power and returned to the ice shortly thereafter.
Buffalo would have the last laugh, winning Game 2 on Sunday by a score of 5-2.
