2017 NWHL Draft Recap: Katie Burt goes first overall

The third annual NWHL Draft took place tonight, with the Boston Pride selecting goaltender Katie Burt first overall.

The Pride acquired the pick in a trade that sent forward Zoe Hickel to the Connecticut Whale. Burt is the second Boston College player to go first overall; BC alumna Alex Carpenter was the top selection in the inaugural NWHL Draft. Burt is also the first goaltender to go first overall in the NWHL Draft.
