NWHL

  • Brittany Ott is the shortest goaltender in the NWHL at 5’3”. The 5’10” Katie Fitzgerald is the tallest.
  • Megan Bozek is the only Buffalo Beauts defender to score a goal so far this season. She, Gigi Marvin and Milica McMillen are the only defenders to have more than one goal in 2016-17.
  • Shiann Darkangelo and Brianna Decker are the only two players in the NWHL to have more than 30 shots on net this season. Darkangelo leads the league with her 32 shots in her first seven games with the Beauts. Hilary Knight (one game, six shots) and Kelley Steadman (three games, 17 shots) lead the league in shots per game.
  • The Connecticut Whale have more Canadians on their roster than any other NWHL team. Including practice players they have eight Canadian skaters.
  • 2016 All-Star Morgan Fritz-Ward, who is retiring after this weekend’s games in Newark, was tied for second in power play goals on the Riveters last season. If she plays in both games this weekend, her NWHL career will end at 25 games played./

CWHL

  • Jess Jones leads the Brampton Thunder in even strength points and power play points. She leads the CWHL in power play points with seven (five of which are primary) in 10 games.
  • Natalie Spooner of the Toronto Furies leads all right-handed skaters in points in the CWHL. The big forward has 10 points in eight games this season.
  • Marie-Philip Poulin has been kept off the scoreboard in two games this season including on Sunday night. But Pou still leads the CWHL with 18 points./
  • Meghan Rieves’ breakaway goal against Gen Lacasse last Saturday was her first as a pro. She followed it up by scoring her second professional goal the next day. Rieves is the only skater on the Boston Blades with more than one goal this season.
  • On Sunday night Inferno captain Brianne Jenner had five primary points against the Blades (hat trick and two primary assists). Before Sunday’s game she had five primary points in her first five games of the season./

NCAA Division I

  • Kendall Coyne (now playing with the Minnesota Whitecaps) led the nation with her 9.7 shots per game average last year. This season Junior Theresa Knutson of UConn leads the nation with 5.69 Sh/G.
  • Quinnipiac senior Emma Woods has won more faceoffs than any other player in the nation. She averages 13.9 faceoff wins per game for the Bobcats.
  • Caitrin Lonergran of Boston College leads all freshmen in scoring with her 21 points in 16 games played. She also leads all freshmen in shots on net (76) and assists (12) this season.
  • The St. Lawrence Saints are the only remaining undefeated team in NCAA D1 women’s hockey. They have a record of 15-0-2 to start the 2016-17 season. St. Lawrence boasts the best penalty kill in the nation (94.9 percent) and have have an amazing 0.94 average goals against per game. /
  • BC’s Katie Burt is the only goalie in the NCAA with more than one point this season. She has picked up two assists in 14 games for the Eagles. Last year Jessica Dodds of Robert Morris University led all goalies in points with her three assists in 33 games played./
