Toronto Sceptres Acquire Ella Shelton from New York Sirens
A trade in the first round of the the PWHL Draft sent Ella Shelton to Toronto.

The PWHL's Toronto Sceptres acquired defender Ella Shelton from the New York Sirens in exchange for the third overall and twenty-seventh overall selections in the 2025 PWHL Draft.
The league announced the trade during Tuesday's draft.

Shelton is a left-handed defender from Ingersoll, Ontario who has spent the last two seasons with New York. This past season, she recorded 16 points (8-8) in 24 games. Overall, she has averaged 0.77 points per game in her PWHL career.
The Sirens used the third overall pick, acquired in the trade, to acquire forward Casey O'Brien. O'Brien was a highly-touted prospect heading into the draft, as the Patty Kazmaier Award winner and a four-time NCAA champion. She had 274 points, including 177 assists, in 182 NCAA games.
