The CWHL’s regular season schedule has over 80 games on tap. With only 18 games streamed, that’s just a hair over 20 percent of their games being streamed, a disappointing number.

Five of those games are being streamed from China. There’s a 12-hour time difference between Shenzhen and the East Coast of the U.S., which means extremely early hockey for fans of those teams.

Calgary, Markham, and Montreal all will host three games each with Toronto and Worcester rounding out with two each.

According to the CWHL, if teams plan to stream games independently (as the Blades did last season via YouTube), the announcement will come from the teams themselves.

If these are the only 18 games fans will get to see online, it will be mighty sad. The CWHL is the home to many players with fans beyond the city they play in. The demand watch online is certainly out there. As that baseball movie kinda sorta basically said, “if you stream it, they will watch.”
